FOOT AND ANKLE PATHOLOGY

FOOT AND ANKLE PATHOLOGY

DR. JORDI JIMÉNEZ

The foot and ankle are complex structures that are essential for our daily mobility. In trauma practice, we treat a wide range of pathologies affecting these areas, from acute injuries to chronic conditions. Our goal is to provide an accurate diagnosis and effective treatment so you can regain your quality of life.

Common traumatic injuries

Acute injuries are common in the ankle and foot, especially in athletes and active individuals. Some of the most common include:

  • Ankle sprains: Ligament injuries, which can range from mild strains to complete tears.
  • Fractures: These can affect the malleoli (fibula and tibia), talus, calcaneus, and other bones of the foot.
  • Tendon injuries: Such as tendonitis or Achilles tendon rupture.

Degenerative and Chronic Pathology

In addition to trauma, we also treat degenerative and chronic functional conditions that cause pain and limitation:

  • Osteoarthritis: Wear and tear of the articular cartilage in the ankle and foot joints.
  • Plantar fasciitis: Inflammation of the plantar fascia, causing heel pain.
  • Foot deformities: Such as hallux valgus (bunion), hallux rigidus or hammer toes.
  • Morton's neuroma: Thickening of a nerve in the foot, causing pain and tingling.

Our Diagnostic and Treatment Approach

At our trauma clinic, we have the experience and resources necessary for a comprehensive approach to ankle and foot pathology. This includes:

  • Detailed clinical evaluation: Patient history and thorough physical examination.
  • Imaging tests: X-rays, ultrasounds, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and computed tomography (CT) for an accurate diagnosis.
  • Conservative treatment: Physiotherapy, orthoses, infiltrations and other non-surgical therapies.
  • Surgical treatment: When necessary, we apply the most advanced techniques, including minimally invasive surgery and arthroscopy.

If you're experiencing pain or limitations in your ankle or foot, don't hesitate to contact us. We're here to help you get back to moving pain-free.
