Knee Pathology

The knee is one of the most complex and crucial joints in our body, essential for daily activities such as walking, running, and climbing stairs. Due to its constant use and the forces it endures, it is susceptible to various pathologies , both traumatic and orthopedic . In our Traumatology and Orthopedics Department, we comprehensively address these conditions to help restore mobility and relieve pain.

What problems can affect your knee?

The knee can be affected by a wide range of conditions, including:

  • Meniscus injuries: C-shaped tears in the cartilage that acts as shock absorbers in the knee.
  • Ligament injuries: Sprains or tears of the ligaments that stabilize the knee, such as the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), posterior cruciate ligament (PCL), medial collateral ligament (MCL), and lateral collateral ligament (LCL).
  • Knee osteoarthritis (Gonarthrosis): Wear and tear of the articular cartilage, causing pain, stiffness and inflammation.
  • Patellar Tendinitis (Jumper's Knee): Inflammation of the patellar tendon, which connects the kneecap to the tibia.
  • Prepatellar bursitis (Wagoner's knee): Inflammation of the synovial bursa located in front of the patella.
  • Chondromalacia patella: Wear or softening of the cartilage under the kneecap, causing anterior knee pain.
  • Fractures of the patella, distal femur, or proximal tibia: Bone breaks due to trauma.
  • Baker's cyst: A buildup of synovial fluid in the back of the knee.

If you're experiencing pain, fatigue, blockage, or difficulty moving your knee, don't hesitate to consult us. We're here to help you regain function and get back to enjoying your activities.
